Fragments of Life
'Fragments and crumbs of life, all little pieces' John Ruskin 1853 FRAGMENTS OF LIFE Wisps of happenings in discrete chapters of life are stored in hive of remembrances, some sparkling as spangles, some weeping in overflowing tears. I cannot forget that moment when Dad hugged me on my first rank in High School Exam by saying, ‘What you have won makes me much happier than my own achievement.’ In later life I realized, success of children brings more pleasure than self -accomplishment. I hold great veneration to my maternal uncle, the most selfless persona, I met in my life. I remember that eventful day, when Me after college hours and uncle after office hours to meet to visit my Dad admitted to hospital for a surgery. I reached the bus stop where uncle was supposed to come. Political movement going on confronting Police Force. Police was throwing Tear Gases to disperse mob. I did not dare to proceed but was back to home. Uncle stood still inhaling tear gas but could not leave the spot apprehending my danger. Met my first love in silence mode. On one miraculous misty dusk Mr. Perfect cum Mr. Introvert got the chance to face me alone. His deep glances penetrated my heart on nectar secretion to form a pearl of dolor. He stepped forward but could not voice a single syllable. Ethereal emotion is settled in abyss on destined silence. An Angel came to rescue me in my most critical period. He was younger brother of my friend but took place of my own brother in course of time. He was an amateur Actor cum Director of a Drama-Troupe. One -week show was going on and I was enjoying daily. The joyful chap was running through rapture and exaltation. On fifth day, reaching Auditorium, I was puzzled to see all over darkness. The gatekeeper informed, ‘show is off’. He had died, early morn on massive heart attack. I was about to collapse. Half of color of my life has been erased since then. On colloquium of my scientist father on his Hundredth Birthday I spoke about him, Astonishingly from the start of my speech, a spiritual bond was established between me and the soul of my Dad, The fact which I have totally forgotten since last forty years suddenly flashed in my mind. I worked in his cloud Chamber as Assistant just for few months. I felt proud to discover me as only person present in conference directly associated with his work. So many tiny happenstances whirl in vortex of emotive urge surging in opulence, so hard to assemble. 09/01/20 Second Place 'All The Little Pieces' Contest by Constance La France All Yours (Feb 1 ) Contest by Brian Strand
