In Place of Portland
C'mon now, let's go splash onto the shore, Brace ourselves as we race across the sand, Because, of course, you do know this ends war, As we make for the place of Portland. Under another spread sheet lies another one, The line has been drawn in chalk again, yet again, Another splayed body fallen under their gun, This cannot continue, my dear women and men. We can't permit any further violent action, Must take our victim impact statements to the streets, And there, and there we will sing of satisfaction, Demand more, demand better of those on the beats. C'mon now, let's go splash onto the shore, Brace ourselves as we race across the sand, Because, of course, you do know this ends war, As we make for the place of Portland. We cannot allow such spoiling of potential, Pull our swords from them old, old stones, Push 'em deep into the heart of the prudential, Now, we call 'em all in, all of their long, long loans. Ain't no protest, now comes the demonstration time, Put on a display of our found peaceful violence, Let us put it to purpose, this rhythm and rhyme, For Liberty, like life itself, dies in silence. C'mon now, let's go splash onto the shore, Brace ourselves as we race across the sand, Because, of course, you do know this ends war, As we make for the place of Portland. Now, expressing the passion of our conviction, Let 'em really have it, from our left, from our right, Sing them songs of freedom and their splendid diction, Now, as we make our stand against the fall of night. C'mon now, let's go splash onto the shore, Brace ourselves as we race across the sand, Because, of course, you do know this ends war, As we make for the Place of Portland.
