The Tale of Timothy Catchpole Part 4
"We're all comfortable under the cloak of night, and have many miles to cover. We must head North and then,"said Owl, "my plan you will discover." "There's a stream to the North of the cereal field, that's home to a Beaver tribe. If they can divert the water's course, we all may prosper and thrive." It was breaking dawn when they arrived at the stream, and explained their plight to the Beaver. Then they all set to, under Beaver's instruction, and worked away in a fever. At last, the stream couldn't breach the dam, and overran its banks. They all headed home to await the result, offering the Beaver's their eternal thanks. Timothy awoke, with a yawn and a stretch, after having a few hours sleep. There was a gurgling sound coming up from the ground, as the flood water started to seep. The field was a soggy, boggy mess, no good for building upon. The farmer lost his sale it seems and the battle for survival was won. Some time later, the Beaver's returned the stream to its former path. And the animals and birds settled back to normal, in the crisis aftermath. The farmers land was blighted, with no further talk of a sale. And Timothy lived out his life in peace, and often dined out on the tale. But the animals and birds of Harley Wood, still speak his name with pride. The little mouse, who saved his house, and a whole lot more beside.
