The Keep
She tossed the tender moonlight from her hips With care and cadence meant for sinking ships Then pouted luscious lies through both her lips To tempt them from their courses With her hidden shadowed forces Bold men of power dropped like she'd a sword With naught but sullen grace that sways afford All steely-faced composure crushed and gored With her spiced brand of glances Dark eyes to drown sane chances Her robes rose like broad wings upon the mists When from the gape a wind blew demon-kissed To bare sweet flesh and bind her bloody wrists The souls no breath could give her Hearts bound with deeds to shiver She wrapped them 'midst the billows of desires And seared them with the flames of hellish fires Wrought with the heed an angel's lust requires Their marrows stained her altar And how could heaven fault her? Thus dazzled fools she'd paint upon the moon With grace for all those lives she'd leave in ruin And tattered skies would cry to see her swoon To horrid depths their sleeping With frozen bones, a-creeping That horrid deep - her keeping. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Strand Completely New 18, Any Form, Any Theme" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor.
