Underneath a Moonlit Sky
One night - arm in arm - we started walking home. We had been dancing and it had grown late, but oh, how bright was the night! No one else was around us, but encircling the moon, the stars above were winking down on us! Even though this was our first date, the chemistry was strong. The air was chill, so we stopped. As he wrapped his coat around me, he stayed in that one spot, simply looking into my eyes. The stars kept winking. I, however, was unblinking as I gazed back into his shining eyes. If there were sounds, I did not hear them. The ground could have vanished from beneath our feet, and I would not have known it. Extraordinary sensations pulsated through my body. Giddy, I felt as if I almost could not breathe. In that magic moment, he placed soft fingers beneath my chin, tilting my face just right as he leaned in ever so gently for that first kiss underneath a moonlit sky. July 31, 2020
