For Grandma
For Grandma... It's been so long but here we are We finally made it home. How do we thank your for our dad, When maybe you've always known? It's like you've always been everywhere, In all the things that we do, The stories of all the love you gave, Shine through black and white pictures of you... Like the missing piece of a puzzle But always knowing where it is, Or the special secret ingredient That's always on your list... A smell that provokes a memory Of something you can't quite recall, Your favourite song on the radio That you never heard at all... The face that you see in those that you love, But one you never have met, Because time took you away from them, But look at what you have left... Hearts full of love and homes filled with us, All here because you gave life, What we all wouldn't give for one more chance, To go back and make things all right. We leave you these words, as we go on with our days, But know that we'll never forget, The riches you gave us, grandma, The familiar and those not yet met xx
