The Lemon Type Garden
THE LEMON TYPE GARDEN The Players. (in order of appearance) Freddie Fastfoot (The Rabbit) Felicity Flutterby. (The Butterfly) Joshua Jumpahop (The Grasshopper) Chloe Crafteneye (The Fox) Benjamin Buzzenbee (The Bumble Bee) Oscar Oakenut (The Squirrel) Molly Maggenprop (The Magpie) Christopher Croakalot (The Frog) The Fairy King The Poet In a hidden valley lies a magical place, That has spanned the mists of time, A garden so fair, without compare, Where snowdrops and bluebells chime. Where fairies rule and nectar flows, And the seasons all combine, To keep the crop of root and fruit So bountiful and divine. Our scene is set, Midsummer's day, The cast is now complete, The eight clan heads, serene and proud, All take the oath, then take their seat. Freddie Fastfoot tips his hat, And makes the first address, He talks of fields and clover green, Of carrots ripe and juicy cress. Felicity Flutterby next to speak, Full of charm and grace, Tales of golden nectar cups, And endless reels of gossamer lace. Joshua Jumpahop takes a bow, His clan by far the eldest, Strong of leg and fixed black eyes, Lush green grass is his bequest Chloe Crafteneye takes her time, She mentions truces ancient, Teeth and claw are her stock trade, The clans are not complacent Benjamin Buzzenbee, lord of bees, Orange tail aglowing, Magnificent pollen harvest this year, Means winter stores are growing. Oscar Oakenut hurrys forth, Magnificent tail is shaking, Reveals a bumper acorn drop, Huge oak trees in the making. Molly Maggenprop, mischief maker, Queen of truth evading Makes a pledge of better behaviour, The host need more persuading. Christopher Croakalot eighth to rise, Booming voice resounding, Deep cool pools and lily pads, His tadpole brood abounding. Speeches made, the scene is set, The fairy king now seated, The toast is raised, bond renewed The ritual now completed. The king now rises, hush prevails Golden crown resplendent, His approval needed, as is law On this, all are dependent He raises cup and bows his head, The clans rejoice and cheer, Wonderous sound to fill your heart, But only few will hear. Farewells said, the time is nigh To part this magical place For midsummer's day is all but done, Fair moon now shows her face The garden now just fades away, From outside world protected The King commands the misty veil, Ancient secrets undetected A year today the mists will rise, And midsummer's day everafter, Old friends will meet to take an oath, Then depart with love and laughter Now just in case you pass this way, Well I will be delighted, I will join the clans this year And you have been invited!
