I wanted others to give me hope, As I could see no respite, I had lost my strength. Always surrounded with my dearest pals, When I raised my hands, it was complete darkness and no one around! Everything seemed so dull, To those, whom I looked up, I had already caused them pain. No matter what I feel now, everything is in vain. A black hole, where there is no light. I don’t know if I want to survive! In the darkness, I heard a voice And followed it through miles. The further I went; dimmer got the voice. I thought, I have reached the destination, Another fire and brimstone and that same pit. The voice came again! And I held the brim. I climbed up where, I was before. This time, the voice said – follow the rain. This was just opposite to what I had walked till now! And to my surprise, the voice got deeper and shrill. I asked the voice, “How rain would give me shape?” It said, “Walk alone, you need no one to grow!” All I said was a simple “Thanks!” I just walked without fear and fright. Walking through the rain, I stood under the sheath of divine light. When I looked through, I had to fight my eyes. I saw her standing by my side. Her arms around my body, Complete warmth and security in my eyes! She said “Hi” and I realised, The voice was hers, she pulled me up! I said, “I owe you my life.” She said, “no my love, I live for you. Upon me you have complete right.” “It’s yet not late, hurry up, live your life.” I got up, to move forward. I turned back and said, “Hold my hand.” Let’s go together to my land. Yes! She held my hand, we walked alone to my land. I am where, I always wanted to be, Enjoying every bit of it, just me and my mom! STRAND COMPLETELY NEW(6),any form, any theme Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Brian Strand Date: 6th July; 2020
