The Child I Birth Not
The child I birth not It was a dream than a trance It was a vision not a division It was aspiration and not an illusion The child I birthed not There was a conception, yes I conceived you It happened when others conceived theirs too Though it was at my old age that I did conceived But miscarriage along the lane it could not survive The child I birthed not Within my womb it erupts like mighty waves Like the little spark I fan it but it ignites not Leaving me with tales to tell to folks The child I birthed not I sing in the tunes of them who has birthed theirs But the songs are not the same as it ought to be Singing amiss because of my child's death I lack the words of joy that fills the mothers heart The child I birthed not But I am not holding my peace for any longer Take me to the doctor and remind him of me Tell him/her that I am not going home either Until he/she looks at my eyes and tell me That the child I birthed not could not be reborn English and Literary Art is the child I birthed not
