Sky Song
i’m always the last one out on the punch stained dance floor follow your footsteps stand where you were scarlet pools around my feet wishing my trembling hands would find a seat you’re watching me from the other side through your telescope you saw me cry did you know i’d become the world for you turn into oceans because i’ve been so blue and i’ve always been my father’s girl in my pretty dresses i give him a twirl knowing one day i will disappear let the wind take me far from here oh build me the moon and sink it in the river i have always envied her but the cold water makes me shiver did she run away from home swear at her mom and get tattoos or was she born with all her craters cursed with a life she didn’t choose she said i think you’re a star because you shine in all the darkest times i said don’t you think that’s a bit poetic she said i think i’m a little high we were watching the sky and hoping it’d fall so we could be everything and nothing at all
