A Bond That Shouldn'T Exist
The sun is shining, the birds are singing. It's early morning and my phone is ringing. It's time to go the beach is waiting! How exciting! My heart is pounding! Today is the day, when after all this time, I can get out and enjoy the sun shine! It's been over a year since it all ended And since we spoke a word about what happened. My heart almost stopped when I left my room, My mother is laying on the kitchen floor! I ran to see what is wrong with her, I lifted her head and I got full of anger! It's only 10 am, but she's already drunk, To think that this is why my heart sunk. I grab my phone, but who to call? I dial his number as I hit the wall. Why him? Because he's the only one, Who will understand the pain and what she's done. His mom and mine are two of a kind, And this is the way they both unwind. We met by the church near our home, Without a word he listened to me roam. Sadly, he knew all too well how I felt, And he set besides me, like my old friend. I didn't know what to do and I was hurt, Is it too much to ask for a little effort? Self control and love is all it takes, And to give your kids a motherly embrace. For a second there I thought she was gone, But it was clear than, what was going on. It was her day off so she started early, I wish I knew what was her hurry. I didn't want it to happen this way, But at least we got to spend together this day. The burden we share is unbearable at times, But we know what the other goes through sometimes.
