Time of Reckoning
America... is tired of going to sleep with both eyes closed; one eye is now open. She sees everything in the dark. She's always watching, day and night. The time of reckoning is here. It is happening. It is being televised! America has seen enough heard enough, had enough. She's mad as a hatter, foaming at the mouth with righteous indignation coast to coast. She's taken her anger to the streets, clothed in skins of Black, White, Hispanic, Asian... demanding... accountability for police brutality complete transparency and disciplinary actions, even if the lawbreakers wear blue! demanding... police policy changes, a change in leadership, racial equality for all her citizens demanding... leaders take swift action to redress the balance of systemic racial injustice not just offer lip service America... is tired of going to sleep with both eyes closed; one eye is now open. She sees everything in the dark. She's always watching, day and night She's more willing than ever the make all visible to the naked eye... White priviledge, the corrosiveness of racism in all its forms exposed for the world to see The blatant abuse of power The unceasing mistreatment and unjust killings of Black men and women, not just by the police! Sociopolitical hypocrisy, challenged and attacked publicly Unpleasant truths tucked away in the dark, shone a light to A petrichor of change is swirling about in the air, for... America... is tired of going to sleep with both eyes closed; one eye is now open. She sees everything in the dark. She's always watching, day and night She's taken a stand and she's not sitting back down anytime soon!
