I Can Make Them Sit and Spin
Other magicians have it easy – mastering paper, cards, lights, and music. Not me. Never me. Life has always been hard But am I used to it? No, not in the least. The only thing I can make magical are mothers-in-law. Sometimes I do not even know which ones are the mothers-in-law. So I have to turn my charm on the whole crowd, And sixty or eighty mothers-in-law come flying up to the stage. I can make them sit, spin, twirl, levitate and goose each other. That really gets the audience going. In Detroit lives one of the best mothers-in-law to manipulate. My own mother-in-law, so I try to get there a couple of times a year. My husband cannot watch; he says it embarrasses him. She will crow like a rooster, bark like a dog Beg for treats with her tongue hanging out One year someone videotaped it to show her later. Her sense of humor was not what I had hoped. Now when I get to Detroit I cannot use her For she is no longer my mother-in-law But at least I do not have to pack a husband’s bags anymore As I travel city to city, show to show.
