Our Pledge and Promise
I would like to tell you a story about a promise to a mother . . . mother, as we, your four children stood in sadness at your hospital bed we made a promise . . . you asked that we stay close after your death (you had been the glue holding us) of course, we made the pledge but I was doubtful- there was no guarantee so we gave you assurance in your last days to give you comfort and soothe your soul and after you left us for above we each needed time to weep and then the funeral was arranged we came together for that (it was beautiful) we needed time after to accept your death in our own ways but still I was doubtful we would not wander apart well, it has been years now mother, and we are very closer, closer than before we see each other often I could not imagine a problem ever existing between us we truly love each other even when apart you see we live in different cities and each would do anything for the other (I know you would be very proud) _____________________________ June 2, 2020 Poetry/Narrative/our pledge and promise Copyright Protected ID 20-1257-602-03 All Rights Reserved, 2020, Constance LA France Written for the Standard contest, The Promise sponsor, Silent One Second Place
