A Quiet Giant I Will Never Forget
It was the week of winter sanctuary when I last saw him as we chatted in the doorway of the chapel. Winter sanctuary is a five-night event in which our church clothes, feed, and house a hundred homeless people in our community. We spoke of our assigned duties for the night. However, Kent's duties would not have the luxury of ending any time soon on that night. Furthermore, he said that he was assigned to guard through the night and that he would be there for the Saturday morning breakfast for the homeless downtown. Moreover, he said that he would also be back Saturday evening to help clean the facility for Sunday morning service. I tell you, just that little chat with Kent made me tired just talking about the mission he was on for the church. It was by no means a chore to him. Rather, it was indeed a call, and he literally loved every minute of it. It was his church, and he loved it until death. I shall never forget Kent, the quiet giant, who was a large piece of the puzzle that made our church work as a live well-oiled machine. Kent left our world prematurely, but he reached heaven right on time. 050620FBPSCtest, 'I will never forget...', Silent One. 3P
