The May Pole
The May Pole dedicated to my long time friends who were there By Franklin Price 05/01/2020 I remember the May Pole '54 in third grade We hung ribbons from it That's how it was made Don't remember how many Much more than a few To celebrate May Day Gave us something to do Each took a ribbon In the left or right hand Alternating, for dancing, Around the pole we were fanned Ribbons in right hands Went left 'round the pole For those in the left Going right was the goal The music was started We danced left and right Over and under each other To weave ribbons tight The ribbons got shorter As we wove them around We did not get dizzy Or fall to the ground Was a colorful pole When we were all through Was still something else That we had to do From what I remember We planted a tree It still may be there Haven't been back to see
