Fading Potential
Family display of happiness in Christ, Grandparents; parents; brothers; sisters. If faith in Christ were hereditary, Life itself would become second in nature. He read all the Bible stories, Their luster steadily dissolved Through weekly pulpit threats. This only pressured the rebellion. He surrendered to a new god, Temporary aid for his enduring battle. Four months and sixteen Friday nights later, The grip of alcohol was all he knew. Each time he raised the bottle, His mind wandered back home. Home to a usually joyful family. He knew he was responsible for their agony. Several bottles flooded with tears that night, Wanting desperately for Christ to intervene. Believing he had grown too distant, He raised his chin, tightening the rope. He could have lived like his family, All the joys of this life and eternity. But sin clenched relentlessly as he allowed Potential life to fade away.
