Leading the Way
In her soul she exposes naked memories and lust for life A rebel conceived in a flash of pure passion One moment of caution abandoned for love Outstripped of her garments she dances in the falling rain Garland in a maverick mop of hair Sandalwood incense floating adrift ‘She has infected the grandkids’ they ponder in vain’ No vaccine for self-imposed insanity A renegade to the cause of conformity Out of her mind she showers with love those who can feel The power of compassion and kindness Join the marvel of lunacy and freedom At the immature age of ninety she holds on to the garden swing A climber caressing an ancient tree ladder Ascending hugging embracing her foibles ‘We only left the kids in her charge and look what she’s done’ Scraped knees muddy clothes and untamed Muddy faces broken fingernails uncivilized joy ‘Get her inside and retrieve the hand cuffs we need an asylum’ ‘Check the waste bin for her psych medication’ Mania and bedlam again or is she the sane on Finally she is strapped to the settee with sedative camomile tea In her resilience it has paradoxical effects A raving loony even more of a cheerleader ‘Get the crayons sunshine we need a floral design on the walls’ ‘They call it graffiti whereas its fine art’ Picasso took ages to paint like a toddler Chandeliers are for swaying and the couch is for healthy bouncing ‘You’ll save fortunes on crazed psychotherapy’ ‘Self actualization should never be postponed’ A squash court in the lounge maybe she lost her marbles but Lemons and oranges add to light entertainment They pop like balloons but squeak in jollification A masquerade enlightens figurines on side boards and dressers Madonna with mascara eye shadow and lip stick Buddha hung from a lamp shade for levitation Jesus is not quite comfortable and wishes to proceed to his cave Ganesh looses an elephant trunk in the process Laughs as a Ming vase regains shattering faith ‘Its only old porcelain should have brought it to the charity shop’ Who needs clutter when they have fun ‘Live in the moment and dreams are forever’ ‘Its way past bedtime yours and even the little wee one’s But they do not yet envisage what the dream catcher brings’ ‘Not for minute shall I stop to pass on knowledge and wisdom’ Sometimes the prophet is labelled a witch with a mountain at stake But the old lady just wants to have a little bit of fun And spread a load of chaotic order in rational times 23rd April 2020
