Acquiescence
'I think I know why the ocean flows' When I watch the tides send spume and surf onto the poets' swaying shore Caress the silken sand embrace high waters so quietly or with almighty roar As tangled seaweed massages my anxious sun burnt skin and longing wishes Gloom dissipates along with anxious fear that harbours tears of moody swishes Backwards and forwards and that is when 'I think I know why the ocean flows' Somehow simply because it can and to cleanse me kindly from my internal foes Pebbles along their journey sweep a message straight into my wounded heart Guided by the waning waxing moon's perpetuity for my compass and star chart Reflect a canopy of clouds and drifting images as they speak in silent mumble And lift me up when the sand castle I built proceeds to disappear and crumble When the donjon of my fortress beyond all reason makes way for pure emotion I don't need know why waters flow and what the purpose is of such commotion May time will send me a message in a bottle from a far away and kindred soul Crafted with joyful purpose and encouragement and scripted on a fading scroll Remind me of lonely ebbs and waterfalls cascading onto sorrowed sediments Smoothen over lost direction missed opportunities ambitions and impediments One rainy day I found a life line anchor and bronze bell from a full rigged vessel And know the storm didn't have cognizance or conscience with which to wrestle I do not even claim to know whether the salty foam itself needs to comprehend Its graces and what spirited strength and without any fail or sputter it commends Sometimes it's better to simply and humbly accept the growth and innate power Live in the moment the here rather than to wait in vain for an all so perfect hour I have no doubt that oceans flow and that they do not ask to be understood Their waves nevertheless send me dreams hope and finely sculpted drifing wood My beach hut doesn't have to be a marble mansion a small abode is way enough When I'm fortunate will give me shelter from what feeds my ocean from above I think I do not know why oceans flow and never rest to give me instant pleasure I listen to the wind resonate in a sea shell and relish in that miracle and treasure Thunder and enlightening storms flush over all which I know that I never seize Never have never will and all that matters is what rocks in transcendental breeze 'I do not think I know why the ocean flows' 15th April 2020 The line and trigger for this poem 'I think I know why the ocean flows' is taken from the poem of the same name by Vijah Pandit
