For the Birds
You've come to the square expressing a need; to this old plastic planter thats now full of seed for you my beauty a thief on the fly who has stolen my heart with your fine feathered friends. Sister, brother, father, mother all come and stand to stuff their little beaks with crunchy treats. Some look all around but without any sounds, they stay. Yes, oh Yes! stay with me so I can see all the colors you wear when you ruffle your back to fly, and later when you return down, down in free fall all aflutter to brake and land within the square, you toss seed over the edge ... what a mess you've made! How magnificent! Heaven sent. Fly, fly free never to be in a cage (like me) as you bob and weave to peck at the seed and then with a tilt to your head your dark eyes seem to speak right into mine and there, just for a moment, you stay with me.
