Safe In My Heart
My heart still feels those times spent in the warmth while in your arms as your sweet pride and joy- but life does balance joy with darker days, and sometimes, there is nothing one can do. I couldn't bear to see your tear-filled eyes- your robust figure turned to skin and bone; your pleading hands that yearned for yesterday- the pain of death that stole you from my life. Oh dear Grandma, I once laid in your arms- and though I know I'll be with you someday; now tucked away from sights of mind and eye- safe in my heartfelt memories, you sleep. April 4, 2020 For Contest, 'Poetic Lines From a Poetry Soup Poet - Eve Roper' Sponsored by Silent One Line Used: "My heart still feels those times spent in the warmth" from the poem 'What The Eye Sees The Heart Cannot Forget', by Eve Roper
