I Didn'T Want To Close Your Eyes
My beautiful furry friend, I didn't want to close your eyes, I held you tightly, as the moment arrived. Fighting back my tears, I tried to stay calm, kept telling you I loved you, so not to cause you alarm. I called you Holly, you were so sweet, you were ever so loyal, walking behind my feet. you ate ice lollies, and loved those chicken bones, you fought so hard to stay here, so I didn't feel alone. It hurt like hell, as I walked from that place, I pondered my life without you with sadness etched on my face. I know you'll be running freely, now on the rainbow bridge, jumping high in graceful flight, just like you always did. Memories of you, I carry close to my heart, there's a picture on my wall, guarantees we will never part. your smell still lingers, from my collection of your hair, I will keep it safe forever, so the pain is easier to bare. It was hard to close your eyes, but I loved you enough, to let you go, to ease your pain, before it got too rough. Sleep tight my furry friend, you were so loved, never be forgotten, but you had simply had enough.
