Has Been
Has Been Standing out in the cold and rain. Feel I’ve been here before. And the people used to know my name. But they don’t anymore. Used to be on the silver screen. Not so many years ago. Used to be a household name. Interviews about my latest show. Didn’t want to be, a day-dream all my life. But I learned it’s not the only Place they carry a knife. I played the scene. Now I’ve become, a has been! People that I used to know They just walk on by. And the scene from an old-time show. Brings tears to my eyes. And I wonder if ever again. I’ll be on the stage. Full of women and champagne Interviews upon the front page. Didn’t want to be, a day-dream all my life. But I learned it’s not the only Place they carry a knife. I played the scene. Now I’ve become, a has been! David Cox
