Sheanna the Wolf Mate
Sheanna was born with her eyes closed. She was tiny, the kind some clans let die in the caves. Her mother was ultra protective, and determined to save her. The other clanswomen encouraged her to put her out in the winter. Let the wolves have her, they urged. You can have a stronger child, maybe a boy. Sheanna’s mother was determined. She was keeping this baby, and would nurture her. She moved away to her own cave, and did her best to prepare Sheanna for the strange ones. The ones who wanted to kill anything that looked different, unique or unusual. When Sheanna was three months old, her mother noticed that her eyes were unique. One blue, the other brown. She is a wolf mate! Her mother whispered, but only to herself. The clanswomen would have kidnapped her and killed her if they had known. Sheanna’s mother developed a disease that would be a lingering, horrible death. So she contacted the wolf clan via prophetess telepathy. Easy to do as Sheanna was a seventh daughter of a seventh daughter. The wolves came in the middle of the night to see the Wolf Mate. They loved her instantly. Whisking her away to live out her days in the woods, where she ran free. Nurturing her to appreciate and love uniqueness and differences. She taught the wolves by the light of the stars, and they were forever grateful to her mother.
