A Woman's Love
In her nightgown and faded PJ.s at the kitchen sink, she stood Always regular as clockwork, just like, I so expected she would Table set, toast in the rack, and, a glass of fresh fruit juice too The cornflake box left ajar, to have, with my iced cold milk dew The aroma of hot coffee in the air, awaiting, my final 5 min rest Not a word was spoken, as her love in my breakfast expressed Then now arrives at the table to fill her cereal bowl as she does As regular as clockwork I hand her the cereal box just because I've a need to let her know, she; is not just my breakfast slave As my hand retreats, it gives, a silent notion, of a familiar wave And left her alone to ponder, on the forever read cornflake box She does this every morning, regular as the ticking of the clock As, if there was some dire need; to all the ingredients to digest Waited in anticipation; see, if she would see the message, I left Watched on as her head tilts to one side, as to read the words And underneath a little doodle, of some odd-looking, love birds It is worth the earth to me to see her eyes lighten up and smile As to my love to show a little gesture, is always worth the while Her eyes divert as if to show my message, had but; gone amiss Now at door; on my way to work, I then get the so regular kiss With things forgotten I work on as to a well-earned lunch break To find within my lunch box; a little note, under the ginger bake It reads . . . To my forever loving man I too will love you, even more, tomorrow, than I love you today And; no matter how far the work distance in my heart you stay Your forever loving woman x x x
