The Curse of Conquerors Past, Part I
I write this down not knowing what to think, or how to make sense of what I went through, my name is Blake Jones, I was S.A.S., and everything that I write here is true. This tale tells how we killed Khan Williamson, the tyrant who nearly conquered the earth, an archaeologist looking for a tomb, who came out dealing in conquest and hurt. Folks say it’s creepy that he looked for Genghis, and it turned him into a vile rat, they say he was ‘inspired’ by his hero, but the truth is much more scary than that… When Martin Williamson searched for the tomb it was a big event told by the new, he had a new theory, would find Genghis, and perhaps a boatload of treasure too. Even Mongolia’s government said, “I would be a bright day for history.” The locals weren’t sure, but most went along, future tourist dollars they all could see. He voyaged to the Khentii Mountains, then he and his team just all disappeared, two other professors, fifteen locals, a massive search began, all involved feared… They search the countryside for three long months, no trace of Dr. Williamson was found, it would’ve been better if that was his end, but we all know it wasn’t what went down. Three years later, far from where he’d been last, Martin Williamson was spotted again, along the Kazakhstan border regions, as a warlord, leading bands of armed men! Now this shocked his friends back in old Oxford, Martin had been of a pacifist bent, now he raged into south Siberia, countless cities and villages he rent. The three nations tried to lay his force low, all were sure this upstart would be killed, the Kazakhs, The Russians, Mongolians too, were fast beaten, and with fear soon were filled. And Williams’ force multiplied rapidly, all of the men he conquered he would take, told them they could die or march for his cause, where they’d have their fill of plunder and rape. This wasn’t a hard decision for most, he was a magnet for the weak and poor, the rest of the world watched and shook their heads, this kind of thing didn’t happen anymore! Nomads did not ride hordes off of the steppes to conquer all who dared stand in their path, merely the idea that such things could happen was enough to get you a mocking laugh. And yet we saw Williamson march for China, with a polygot horde ten million strong, in the space steppe-land they’d gone unbeaten, but against China would they last that long? CONTINUES IN PART II.
