I'm trying to put them back But its hard to see. Scar tissue seems to grow Whenever my anger makes the ink flow. Time has taken its toll As care-less feelings take their stroll Up and down memory lane leaving just a shadow behind me Like a permanent stain On an old shirt. So letting things be As they've become I look for guidance for the long run. To perhaps see better days and better ways To feel and better deal With life's Ferris wheel. Sights on straighter paths Are sometimes hard to keep, Spun in circles 'til all is a blur Then stopped when everything else Is still going. Now walk! No balance, no guidance, no hand to hold. Stumbling and falling to the ground repeatedly 'Til it's finally over. Now try to make things right by Picking up the pieces day and night While frustration builds and Tears down everything you've Tried to repair. Where is the end to all this despair??!! I fall to my knees covering my head Rocking back and forth, crying. A comforting embrace takes hold My pain finally lets go A voice soothes my soul Bringing me to my feet And I'm shown the way to go. I asked to hold His hand Until I was safe, He smiled, acknowledged and touched my face. So back on the straight and narrow I go As tears of relief begin to flow But dry as time goes on The sunshine on my face is warm, My heart has found peace once again.
