Sunshine
The sun always sets This is an undisputed fact It gives us life and warmth and provides for us Yet everyday it goes away The world turns cold and unforgiving Our lives are filed with a cold darkness that is impenetrable We stave it off as best we can with electric lights and before that we had candles Yet we don’t really put much worry into it We know that the sun will come back and bless us once again In a world where many things are taken for granted this is the most glaring What has been worshipped as a divine entity in many a culture disappears once a day Imagine the thoughts of the ancients as the sun slipped lower and lower into ether Did they simply believe that their god had abandoned them Or did they have the same basic faith that we modern folk do That the sun would soon rise high into the sky and protect them for another day Maybe we don’t question the continual cycle because it’s just that, a cycle A seemingly endless loop of coming and going Perpetually happening over and over, for longer than any records and far past what any of us may see We see the cycle happening so completely that it would be ludicrous to question it Perhaps because of this many of us enter unbreakable cycles of our own Cycles that seem unending, cycles that we believe would be nigh foolish to question It may be our proclivity to cycles that is the reason we stay in the same place All the time wondering why we keep being hurt
