Where Do the Birds Go
WHERE DO THE BIRDS GO? Where do the birds go? Why do they come back? How do they know where to go? How do they know when to come back? Are they on their own? Or do they have something that helps them? Could we ever learn to be like them? Could we ever just pick up and leave? And then know the perfect time to come home? They must surely see us as fickle creatures. We stay in one place for far too long for them. We stay even when the weather turns sour. We stay without giving serious thought to leaving. The situation gets may times worse, yet it never truly crosses our mind to fly south. To head for better weather and clear days. Instead we stay trapped by the cold All the while dreaming about the southern skies Envisioning days where the winds are calm, and the waves barely slap your ankles Never realizing the birds have it right When the world turns cold sometimes it’s better to change your place in it Rather than put on another coat.
