'tis of Thee
You, my homeland, are beauty and bloom unrivaled! From reach-to-reach your gilded plains, rolling hills, and pointy peaks, chant to the heavens of freedom! Your raggedy coasts and sand-swept keys, offer the arms of welcome and opportunity, rife to the world, and teem with wild wonders from the surging seas! Lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams, born with virtue from the snow-crusted mountains, are the lifeblood of subsistence, bubbling with earth's finest bounties, and bearing the breath of all creation on their backs! From cities bulging forth with people, to a wilderness untouched and untamed, you're the sweet envy of all the earth, and the fiery blossom of liberty ... America! ~ 2nd Place ~ in the "Whitman-Inspired Uplifting Poetry, Old Or New" Poetry Contest, Carolyn Devonshire, Judge & Sponsor. ( Idea taken from my earlier compound piece "My Country, 'Tis Of Thee", written on August 25, 2018 )
