Christmas Past
Christmas Past... I would bake all night; cookies, cakes, pies and the like. I would put things together, that had no instructions, at least in any language... that I recognized. I wrote out; lists, notes, cards... and even jokes, when they came by, the window in the kitchen, unexpectedly. There was a time, I would have done this with you. But not it is the middle, and that part I never knew. It was a pleasant dream, that we "would do things together", it never happened, but that is okay. I will choose to recall, all that was important to me. The rest you can keep, or return before the end... of the year. Today I live in a different place. My children they are grown. I volunteer as I can, and sing off key caroling. No one minds, this time. They smile and there are hugs. There are kind words, shared by strangers, that became friends, forever. You were not there, but I choose to not care. Instead I have moved on, and found that I am not alone.
