Something More Meaningful
SOMETHING MORE MEANIFUL Reminiscing times; in our childhood of laughter and, adventure Building our secret dens in all their glory and in their splendour Creating our own secret world; within wood and, tarpaulin walls Shelling peas and collecting apples to ignoring our mothers calls Home for tea and, then under cover of nightfall we’d sneak out Under torch light whittling wood, we had so much to talk about Were we not; the greatest adventurers the world had ever seen There always had to be a king: and, fights who was to be queen Life; seemed more meaningful back then: with eyes always wide All beds empty in the morning and the threat of sore back sides Now we have grown and realised just how lucky we had all been As wondering if every girl got her king and, every boy his queen With . . . Little princes and princesses; all running out in the world to play O’ how great the world was; back in those lovely childhood days Indiana Shaw . . . : )
