Moving Swiftly On
No retrospective gain from looking back in anger, Of dwelling with the pain of what evoked my tears; The closing of the book on chapters laced with sadness, To every vow I took, my beating heart adheres. What self-destructive point in raking through the ashes Which often would anoint our love with senseless flaws? Much better to accept the present and the future, In any old respect, the past as closing doors. I centre on the best and disregard the refuse Of all the stupid rest, the truth or fallacy; For I have touched the stars, because you said you loved me, And never will deny, you meant the world to me. No reason to relate to all we might have altered, For all that will equate is nothing in the end; Regrets are not for me, so I do not have any, And you will always be my life, my love, my friend.
