October Winds Out West
I cannot see them directly but observe the effects of their presence. I cannot speak with them but hear the sounds of their voices. I can touch and feel them as they pass with a gentle whisper. Sometimes it seems they are angry and come with mighty blows. In October for instance, when they forcefully whip through canyons and cause normally manageable fires to break out uncontrollably. Though often the cause of great devastation, it is not their fault, because they take orders from their maker, and we cannot stop them. We must, therefore, adjust to their ways and heed their timely warnings. And let's not forget that they come to us also with overwhelming comforts. After a toasty summer day, for instance, they often soothe us with cool delta breezes. And those October Winds blow the leaves from the trees and by Autumn's end, the path of the wind between leafless limbs has made way for the warming rays of the sun. 103019PoSoup
