November Fairy Twinkle
Kerry Ann gleamed with undeterred joy and twinkled in anticipation It was her birthday and as a true Sagittarius she had colourful vision And a sharp bow for shooting the moon to get closer to serious action The fairy liquid oozed from the bottle thanks God it was not the bleach As she squeezed every last drop onto her hair and a by-standing pumpkin ‘You never know who peed on the seeds in Daddy’s vegetable garden’ Clean as a whistle she soaped her head shoulders and the innocent squash To remove contamination and wiped the smile off the yellow skinned plant Brushed the skin with her toothbrush and proceeded to carve up her dream She was able to converse with all sorts of life forms and led from the front ‘You are my Halloween hero with a difference so that tricks become treats’ Sometimes adults lacked imagination and could not see the bigger picture ‘I want you pink emerald and purple and to ride a besom fuelled by Guy Fawkes’ The legend had failed to blow up parliament but she made a generous concession ‘Practice makes perfect’ she screamed as she plotted gun powder and reason She shelled the miracle creature and filled it with ammunition and passion ‘All politicians are liars I must give you a nose like Pinocchio’s telling the tale’ Unicorns of all nations unite and a rotten carrot will do well as your nose’ The fancy critter had spinach leaves for ears and suited all spineless rulers Who never listened in any case and so she pulled sheep’s wool over their eyes What now looked like a leprechaun resembled a political clown in disguise It pleased the land’s rulers as they could now blame their charades on a jester Kerry Ann became chancellor of the exchequer and taxed riches and banks Gave free candy to adults and children alike and provided free dental service To seal the revolution piglets were barred from flying under the pagan radar Witches and clairvoyants held cabinet meeting under the spell of oracle cards And to immortalize the occasion miniature pumpkins were blown into crystal A strange peace ensued as little helpers offered love potions by the bucket Scape coats made from gingko and hemp replaced fall guys and wardens The Union jacket’s seal oozed the notion of a white dove on translucent fabric Kerry Ann had always been an enchantress a spell caster and magician But never believed it to be so easy to dispense tranquility and common sense All she had to do was to revert the paradigm of mercurial Halloween To remove barriers between our world and the kingdom of spirits and ghosts And make human beings see what is so obvious that it deflects from the truth She thought that Fairy Liquid was rather intoxicating and plotted new plans Santa’s reindeers converted to dolphins and Scrooge’s urchin turned to pearls Furry trees changed into corals to save the wild ocean and Jesus got clothed Only the emperor had to remain fully naked to portray a historical artefact Kerry Ann was delighted and her Mom happy that she refused the play station Dad swelled with pride as his daughter’s plans and ambition quickly went viral Stirred and a little bit shaken illusion had grown fantasy and utopia reigned 24th October 2019
