Shine Light On the Scars
Your steps light the way, Up the staircase. A glowing path to follow, Running up to the stars, To a final grace. Oh if only I could follow, But I’m not welcome among the heavens. I bring with me, Like a diseased rat, The plague of ignorance, Arrogance, A lack of innocence, Spreading from a single touch, With complete indifference To your elligence and love. There’s nothing I could ever do To bring myself together. So I embrace the imperfection. There’s always something new. The twinkling lights call, But I ignore them once again. They shine down brighter. And their superiority, Only brings my inferiority Out of it’s security. And into view. Your steps light the way, Up the staircase. A glowing path to follow, Extending from the stars, Scorching the ground around it. Oh, if only it could take me, but I will not let it, When the time comes I will refuse the invitation. Hide from fear. You can’t be haunted By something that doesn’t know You even exist. Jumbled thoughts, Broken future. Poetry was made to be creative and flawed, like us. Contradictions left and right. So what if we embraced that idea? -Connor Lotts, hope you enjoyed
