Seeking Ever the More, Greatest of Truths
Seeking Ever The More, Greatest Of Truths I. The soul, which like a heart true beats hers to my love forever weds singing songs that passions entreat to invite joy to lover's bed tho' Fate oft dances as it cheats. II. And Spring gifts its sweet heated thaw winter fades into hidden caves across the land its warmth crawls as mortals for this bounty rave tho' Fate oft plays as it slow gnaws. III. This earth with its great darkness yields too little to the meek and mild as bright flowers bloom far afield life gives us mother and dear child tho' Fate oft ruins what man builds. IV. Nature, with its measured turns glorifies its resplendent sun as its hot flames so brightly burn we mortals ever seek more fun tho' Fate oft our milk overturns. V. Life, this great force we hold so dear is but whispers in flowing winds yet with faith be we of good cheer hope rests beyond the river bends tho' Fate oft kindles our deep fears. VI. This sad truth our hearts must now hear man is made of mere flesh and bones Life and Soul felt more when in tears saddest love hold dark overtones tho' Fate oft casts its sharpest spears. VII. And in wisdom comes greater light for we may walk blinded and lost as love's soft pleasures conquers night new dawns may sprinkle gleaming frost tho' Fate oft kills much with its spite. R.J. Lindley, June 12th, 1975 Rhyme, ( Verses Birthed From Midnight Dreams ) Presented as was written, no edits to poem... Old Note: June 12th, 1975 I do not know what future brings whether with joy Life sweeter sings dearer are my verse passions now ink stains paper, as my muse prowls. New Note: September 28th, 2019 I see what my past hath me brought once in life my soul was thus caught between devil and deep blue sea but Lord did have mercy on me!
