The Girl I Kissed Forty Years Ago
Forty years past, I can still see her face The name Marlene never left my brain The young lady I met years ago Standing naked in the river, in the pouring rain Miles deep inside the woods In bear country, I was bare While bathing in cold water...brrr In just my underwear A mirage, I thought...how could it be There was no desert to be found We were camping deep inside the woods Heck, trees were all around So there we were, three friends and myself Standing naked with our goods When out from nowhere, were four girls... Standing in the woods They giggled and they laughed at us... As they watched us with wide-eyes For they were just as surprises as us... To see, four naked guys One of the girls had her eyes on me, And my eyes were drawn to her as well I was kind of afraid to ask her for a kiss But then I thought...oh, what the hell She kissed me back, and we kissed and kissed Wow, that was quite a scene Now forty years past, I still remember her name That girl I kissed...Marlene I'll Never Forget What's Her Name Poetry Contest Sponsored by John Lawless 9-19-2019
