Doubting Kevin
DOUBTING KEVIN Should I not lift a brush because Michelangelo art still exists Climb a mountain because the memory of Sir Hillary persists Never give relief because, Mother Teresa has done all before Give up on being an environmental activist, we have Al Gore One should never merit themselves on others, only ones self However lowly one thinks, every individual has its own wealth Where on earth would I be, if I didn’t have you to recite from Reeling off mortal funnies, to stop the world from being glum Whose visionary insight, imagination is up there with the best So please stop questioning yourself are you passing life’s test If one has to learn from a poet go find one that to you appeals And write from the heart even if a poem about some slimy eels There are so many of us here who are still from the old school Who think the likes of Edward Lear and, Lewis Carroll, still rule As you live only as long as the last person who remembers you A quote written by someone, but funny, if I can remember who But all because of you Kevin, I will leave this world still laughing Over some daft poem you did write that leaves me still gassing Here’s to you Kevin Poet; stand up “Sire”, before all be counted Before a 3 legged horse, one of my poems has you dismounted Daft lyrics that would never be there, if not for the likes of Kevin Who is the only one I know that has a subscription from heaven Who has God and angels laughing from the humour Kevin exults Kevin who might be a cousin, I’m just waiting on the DNA results This poem is dedicated to Kevin Shaw, a poet from across the miles Whose works leaves us pondering on life but leaves us full of smiles To have a understanding of this poem it helps to read Kevin Shaw's blog "Unloved" found on this site, this is a don't put yourself poem ; ) Indiana Shaw . . . ; )
