Familiar Friend
I hear your words in the air I hear it told on the street. Your breath like a winding stair Climbs up idle ears to meet Lazy hearts bereft of reason, Led along by unbridled tongues. They speak, they spit poison They right a wrong with two wrongs... What are friends for if they cannot Fill each other`s lack, What are friends for if they cannot Rub each other`s back? You should have known better That I was your circumference When I proffered milk instead of water When I gave you care, not in difference. But why do you go tripping among Men who cannot determine the deal, Why do think you sound like a song When your voice blares only an empty peal? Time changed and you start tripping Now that you see the table turn You start wailing and whining You watch your ambition burn, But I know you will return; I know you will come back to me You are the river and I, the sea! Into me you will always stream When you are tired of your dream.
