Some we know we have run from, rather than make the climb, But now another mountain in life we now will find: A child who may have problems as soon as it is born, And need a major treatment some very early morn. This child may then develop with other problems there And may require more treatments and extra special care. This is another mountain from which we could now flee, But we realize we must face it and what it has to see. We realize we must climb it, but we won’t climb alone; We’ll have the prayers of others who have a mountain known. We’ll have their ropes to cling to as they help us to scale The mountain that’s before us; we know we must not fail! And most of all that summit that’s up there very high There stands our Lord with power and hope so very nigh. He didn’t give that mountain or lead us to it here And think we couldn’t climb it, so run from it in fear. No, He will use this mountain to make us that more strong And grow us in His mercy, although the climb is long. He’ll use it to help others who face their mountains high With ropes of our encouragement when theirs is running dry. We know those years of running not very long ago Gave us a life of wondering if we could really know That God was real and working, that what we learned was true, But somehow from that mountain God spoke down from the blue. He told us that our mountains were not things we should shun, But climb with faith and clinging to His dear precious Son. So as we face THIS mountain, we trust Him now and rest Completely in His promise that He always knows best. Perhaps atop this mountain a brighter sky we’ll view, Better able to tell others, “I know that God’s with you.” Yes, we face another mountain, we’ll climb this on our knees In prayer and expectation that our God will be pleased. How God may use this mountain we may not know today, But we will cling to Jesus along the mountain way. We BOTH will LOVE this baby, no matter WHAT will be As we climb up this mountain a better height to see. Dedicated to a special couple at church
