Daffodils
I'll admit. This is going to be One more poem About how you Make me feel- One more Metaphor Of the love I have For you. You know, If I were still A child, Unaware of The world's cruelties, Perfectly content In my ignorance, You would be The furthest thing From my mind. I would just Be walking along One day, when I was just Pouty and Terribly disgruntled, Not quite admiring The scenery, Just walking. I would be Thinking of how I'd never not Be mad again, Because that seems To be what Children do, When, Suddenly, I would be Stopped by the Sweet, innocent character Of a single daffodil. I would look around, Wondering if Anyone knew that This daffodil was here, But I'd pick it up Without giving it a Second thought, Because it was so Conveniently placed Before me. I would gaze For a while, Completely forgetting Whatever it was That had my Knickers in a twist. I would Be in awe Of something So simple, But also of Something that I needed all along. I would get In my bright Little eyes, A twinkle and a tear, Then go about My days Happy Because I was So special, So lucky To be given Such a gift. But now, I know this feeling well. As I said it would be, This has been Just another poem Of how you make me feel; Just one more metaphor Of the love I have for you.
