In Your Ruins
I'm lost at sea and weary So tossed upon the tides Aged sinews and I'm leery Of threats this reef abides And yet there is a comfort Within the gorging breaks To run aground And wash up In your Ruins ... Forsaken midst the desert On sands as hot as stars I ache for highland heather The broken rills and scars And yet I find it's peaceful Along the plangent dunes To melt away And vanish In your Ruins ... Misplaced deep in the jungle Its beryl bloom and breath Through labyrinths I bungle While cheating proper death Still, I've found contentment Dwells in that tangled wood So lay me there To molder In your Ruins ... Oh ... How I long To crumble In your Ruins. * This is a poetic form I created that is called, simply, “FLUSARIAT” - I hope you found it worth your while! * ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Strand Special Any Form, Any Theme, Any Number Of Lines" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "N/A Rerun 2" Poetry Contest, John Hamilton, Judge & Sponsor.
