Dear God
God I’ve been meaning to write to you For quite some time But finding the right words to say Ran the ink in my pen dry I don’t want for us to argue This is not a debate Had my name drag through the dirt So I figured you could relate Lately I’ve been having trouble, trying to be nice To people who want to see me fall They don’t want me to rise Now I’m not surprised I just don’t know how to react Your teachings say turn the other cheek But my instinct is saying I should fight back I got the devil on one shoulder An angel on the next My future on my mind But the pain from my past still linkers in my chest Protesters on the streets Protesting against same sex marriage Yet keep their mouths shut Against abortion and miscarriage Hands to the sky Shouting to God in tears Yet they haven’t seen the inside of a church in years Now I’m not saying that it’s right Who am I to judge Who am I to point fingers When my hands aren’t clean enough So many hungry faces So many children dying So many people with the power to make a difference And so little of them trying Children raised with no fathers Mothers having fatherless kids Children fighting for their lives Before they had a chance to live We need you now more than ever We’re running out of faith We need you to intervene Before it’s too late D.Christian
