Not Today
When pain gets the best of you it is easy for excuses of not what to do A walk in the park, Not today A drive in the country, Not today A picnic for lunch, Not today Staying home and resting painful bones Invitations decline it is easier to stay recline A movie, Not today A dinner reservation, Not today A favourite game, Not today Soon Not today gets in your way Not today is a crutch for everyday Your pain only gets worse It's more than an excuse but a curse Your activities nil, always popping pills And soon your alone in a prison for a home A walk in the park, I am a little slow but yes A drive in the country, the views are the best A picnic for lunch, I can't resist Keep moving those old bones and start getting stronger Get that foot out of the grave and begin living longer
