A Poem As a Tribute On Mothers Day Part 1
A Poem as a Tribute on Mothers Day Part 1 In the broad day light of one May afternoon, When the heat of Sun was scorching and unbearable, to move outside our dwellings, and The atmosphere was almost pinching I was a little busy in my room in completing, my new song lines When I heard that favourite sound of my favourite bird Koyal Coming like a cool breeze In that hot summer time. 01 . After a while, I heard that voice again And then I noticed, The melody of the lovely bird coming from a close by distance, The Koyal was singing on a near by green Ashoka’s tree, which I had spotted earlier, A few of these Ashoka saplings were planted by me Long ago in my footpath garden, And now all those kids and children of yesterdays’ Were smiling, as handsome youth of today This I had done to make that footpath clean and green With many saplings of Ashoka, Neem With Gurhar, Guava and Shareefa (Custard apple). 02 Then I remembered the 9th May of my young days, When on a similar hot afternoon I got that terrible news, While coming from an outdoor work towards my home, When a family friend of ours informed me, that my Mother was no more in this world In those sudden terrible moments, I felt as if, I had lost the most beautiful and the most precious treasure of my life I could not understand for some long moments, what that someone was trying to tell to me, about my Mother. 03 . Suddenly, the melody of Koyal awakened me again, From that dream like sequence of my yesterdays and I was trying to again listen to that song Which the Koyal was still singing, In its lovely sweet voice from its hidden place of stay On that tall green Ashoka* tree, Without complaining a single word, about the summer’s heat, And of the western hot wave, Which was blowing outside in its peak. 04 * Ashoka tree’s Botanical name is Saraca asoca . I noticed, how different are the behaviour of these birds, Unlike we human beings Who start their conversation usually with a complaint, about the whether and often course the weather, Even if, it is too pleasant and good. 05 . The melody of the bird reminded me, How my mother was not only an inspiration for me, but She was also the inspiration of many others, Her vocal singing of simple folk songs and Indian classical musical Ragas, With the sweetness of her loving heart used to charm everyone, Who met her even for a while. 06 .
