The Deadliest Coward, Part Ii
...Elton mountain up, was off in a whirl, determined to save his beloved girl. Ned followed after, still pushing quite hard, trailing the mad Elton, but not by far. Down through the street the angry Elton tore, then he spotted Jay, saddling his horse, Elton leapt down, blood-fury in his eye, screamed,”You craven bastard! You’re gonna die!” Both went quick for their shinny six guns, cleared leather right quick, soon it was done, Both men pitched backwards, sent to their rest, each with four pieces of lead in their chest. The townsfolk came out in a staggered stream, Hattie appeared and let out a shrill scream, between her two suitors she wept and cried, which on to go to, she could decide. Until Ned walked up, wiped away her tears, said,”Come on, let’s get you away from here.” The people parted, let him lead her out, arm around her shoulders, to her dad’s house. She cried into his chest, and clung to him, Ned knew that he now would have Hattie McGwinn, as he whispered words to comfort her hurt, he glanced back and smiled at his handiwork…
