Tender Telehone Thoughts
In our most beautiful, suburbian , breakfast nook, Where I read so many joyfilled books, With the golden sunlight streaming in, Is where my days as a girl, always, did begin. Wallpaper of giant strawberries Smiled with love at me. A knock at the back door was our fresh milk Delivered by a man dressed in all white! There was a buiilt in hutch a place ,a home For our beloved Sir Landline phone! A great presence was he,with great volume And weight, stature and shining glory. After each use, Sir Landline, was cleaned, And polished, so glossily and heavenly. With the greatest of love and care. We were civilized back then, thanks to Mom and Dad. Sir Landline was part of our family, so highly respected. We did not drag Sir Lanline around the house, With long, unruly twisted cords. Sir Landline lasted forever and ever So sturdy was he built. We did not stick things in his rear, To avoid taking calls. Bless you God for no answering machines back then! We actually spoke to one another. Sir Landline sat there, a King on a throne. We pulled up brown wicker chairs. We used him with great respect and good taste. Never chomped in his ear, not ever. We did not take him to the bathroom not once! He never went swimming in a toilet. Never did we expose our backsides to him. A bathroom back then had a door In privacy, did we used it. Alas.the days of Sir Landline are gone for many. Replaced by flim-flam plastic junk. He would have perished had he known What his descendants have become. To exist with no glory, no respect, no humanity. New phones reside in men's and woman's pants. A thought, Sir Landline finds more than disgusting! Some put them next to their big crest breasts. Humiliating too, theymare dragged into bedrooms Where they are forced to watch sex. Oh, Sir Landline would be humiliated. Worse, new phones have video and cameras, too. I need not tell you what they do. Body parts grossly posted at the Soup too! I would prefer to hold him again, That's so obvious to you. An android is the most germ filled object in your home. No need to wonder why you are sick! Much safer, you hug your toilet seat. Women smother these new devices in their Dooney and Burke purses! Most new telephones find themselves crushed In ignominy! I will be labeled all sorts of names for this. Frankly, I do not care. Many will understand the respect for a Landline. Many will not. It's just my love of things long past. Panagiota Romios 5/1/2019 7:10pm PST
