Missing You
I’m impetuous, You’re cautious. Both stubborn yet seeking balance, Two souls reconciling with loving silence. Holding hands at every chance, Relaxing together was our luxury and romance. We can't really be through, For I’m still missing you. A sly glance checking if I caught your joke, The gentle gaze in your eyes when napping, you awoke. Melting in your embrace, Finding my home in that happy place. The crinkle of your "Paul Newman" blue eyes, When you laughed or were suddenly surprised. How flattering to fall for your possessive act, When a hunkie hawk or band singer would me distract. The display you made savoring my cooking, Knowing I was pleased and proudly looking. Your sensitive petting soothed my sassy pup, Telling me I'd be lucky to laze in such worship. We savored the glow of passion's tender thrill, And life's hard knocks lost some power to chill. Leaving in me a longing and affinity, For you, one so confused and lacking in vanity. My tart tongue tested your tolerance, Your troubled tempests tried my patience. From habits of lonely life vigils, we lashed out, Forgetting, briefly, what we're all about. We're still so new, but several months is all it took. Trusting you has changed my life outlook. So this missing you remains within me, And, dare I hope, within thee? Shall we agree, We'll waste no more time testy and grumpy? But continue casting our charmed unity, Exploring each other, the land and sea? M. Renee Taylor 11-27-12
