Best Friends Forever
“Best friends forever” Then: We giggled I gasped for air because I laughed so hard Now: I gasp for air when you twist the knife you stabbed through my ribcage. Not through my back, Because I should have seen it coming. Why would I ever Be so stupid. As to think I Deserved a friend who wished to see me happy Stupid. I was so dumb to think A friendship like ours would last It sparked too quickly Built on silly conversations and late night rants about a girl you hated. Now. I Am the girl you hate. You still call me by the title of best friend But I can sense your rage Slithering around under you skin. Once I made other friends, You slammed on the brakes. I was supposed to be your Best Friend. Your control faltered. You were driving a bicycle across a frozen lake, and maybe I didn’t want to help you pedal. Maybe I Deserve a friend who doesn’t charade around As someone they are not. If you would just admit, your reactions Are caused, by lack of control On my actions. I would forgive you, After all, That’s what best friends are for.
